About this deal

I realized that the whole point of writing that book wasn't for me, but to show that somebody can go all the way down and come all the way back and have a productive, successful happy interesting life. We would have been spared reading all those depressing bull-crap chapters if he simple said "I relapsed back into heroin 100 times all the while treating my friends, family and women like dirt". The tales from the early days of the Hollywood punk scene, the overdose death of Hillel Slovak, the bouts with rehab, the disappointments, the descriptions of lyrics and personal struggles . However, Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis left no stone unturned, and he later regretted his decision.

Considering the massive success that musical biopics have had in recent years, like Bohemian Rhapsody, Rocketman and Elvis, it's no surprise film companies are scooping up music stories where they can. Kiedis continued: “And so whatever shame, pain or difficulty or discomfort I went through, then it was worth it because I get so many people coming up to me saying their kids had read it and got their act together because of it.I guess you did mention several times that druggies only care about drugs, and that you don’t care about other people when you’re drug-hungry, and it’s those moments of insight into how you affect the world at large that made me like you and have sympathy for a very unsympathetic person. Kiedis released Scar Tissue in 2004, and although it was incredibly honest, revelations in the book have negatively impacted his reputation.

But with a compelling enough story(with all that money and drugs it's got to be worth a few pages) I'd recommend. If you like Anthony and you want to hear tall tales of his drug abuse, and you want to hear exaggerated stories of his sex life (which even his bragging couldn't make sound exciting), and you think the front man is the end all be all of a Rock band, then by all means read this book. Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis‘ stories of drug addiction and unusual relationships are making their way to the silver screen. Furthermore, the frontman lost his virginity, aged 12, at the hands of his dad’s girlfriend, who was then 18. Later, he reveals that he was not actually clean, as he claimed at the time, during the late-nineties Californication era of the band's existence. He has done nothing for the betterment of humanity despite millions of dollars, instead he wasted it away and has seemingly no regrets.
