About this deal

I thought Frieda did the right thing by avoiding arrest and taking the risks she did. Once the police hone in on her as a suspect, they were like a dog with a bone, refusing to open their minds to other possibilities. If something like this happened for real, Frieda would probably have been sent up the river, innocent or not. The character build-up and story of Frieda Klein series is unique and different than the others (e.g. Hungry birds series, Divergent series, Twilight Sag, etc.). it starts its story immediately with the climax, with the mystery which makes the reader hyped up when reading the book because it gives the urge of wanting to find out the mystery and the who’s, and of how will they solve the mystery and open another. Although it would not yet be in movies or in the television, the novel is a good franchise. I launched into Friday On My Mind, book five of the Freida Klein series by Nicci French, directly after finishing Thursday's Children.

The abduction of five-year-old Matthew Farraday provokes a national outcry and a desperate police hunt. And when a picture of his face is splashed over the newspapers, psychotherapist Frieda Klein is left troubled: one of her patients has been relating dreams in which he has a hunger for a child. A child he can describe in perfect detail, a child the spitting image of Matthew.

Sunday Morning Coming Down is the penultimate book in what has been overall a fantastic series. I haven't always liked Dr Klein with her closed off ways, but she's a character that has grown on me over time and I will miss her long hours of walking the streets of old London town. Nicci Gerrard was born in June 1958 in Worcestershire. After graduating with a first class honours degree in English Literature from Oxford University, she began her first job, working with emotionally disturbed children in Sheffield. In that same year she married journalist Colin Hughes. This is the 7th book in the Psychotherapist Dr Frieda Klein series by authors Nicci Gerrard and Sean French who publish under the pseudonym Nicci French. There’s much to like about this series. The characters are vivid and lively. Much like Louise Penny’s Three Pines novels, we get the sense of a community developing during the series. There’s a variety of relationship types, which I’ve found is unusual.

Nicci French's sophisticated, compassionate and gripping crime novels stand head and shoulders above the competition. No one understands human psychological frailty better. No one writes better about grief, love, fear or emotional damage. Not many books are as insightful as they are addictive; Nicci French's are.' Eventually, her marriage turned into a failure and Nicci Gerrard was forced to separate from her first husband. She lived alone with her children for some time after her marriage got broken and joined the New Statesman daily newspaper to work as an editor. It was during this time that Nicci Gerrard met with Sean French, who was also working in the New Statesman as a weekly column writer. After working for a short period, Nicci left the New Statesman after receiving a better job offer from The Observer. Nicci’s father, John Gerrard died in the year 2014 due to deterioration of his dementia during a 5 week stay in a hospital. During the whole period of his treatment, family visit was highly restricted. Due to this, author Nicci Gerrard launched a campaign in the name of her father for the extension of the visiting rights for caretakers of patients suffering from dementia. Author Sean French was born on May 28, 1959, in Bristol. His father, Phili French, was a film critic and radio producer. Just like other 2 younger brothers, author Sean French was also educated at the William Ellis secondary school, located in north London. After that, he went on to join the Oxford University for studying English Literature. Even though Sean and Nicci studied at the Oxford University together, they never really met with each other. During his stay at the Oxford University, author Sean French won a contest for young writers organized by the Vogue magazine. Subsequently, he went on to work as a journalist. In the year 1987, author Sean French wrote his first column and then joined the New Statesman as a weekly column writer. He worked there till the end of the year 2000. In the year 2004, Sean wrote his solo novel titled ‘Start From Here’. From the isolation of the correctional facility, Tabitha dissects every piece of evidence, every testimony she can get her hands on, matching them against her own recollections. But as dark, long-buried memories from her childhood come to light, Tabatha begins to question if she knows what kind of person she is after all. The world is convinced she’s a killer. Tabatha needs to prove them all wrong. The case was chilling enough even with the first novel in Frieda Klein series. Plotting a story with an abducted child is something that will keep the emotion of the readers in peak; and with the “linkage” of the young girl who went missing 22 years ago draws us to even more emotion that makes us ask if is it the same abductor? What have been they been doing for the last 22 years? As hidden memories are being stirred with the little girl’s older sister; the darkest paths of a psychopaths mind are being chased to answer the whereabouts of Matthew Farraday.

I would give this book a 3.5 if it was possible as I enjoyed the authors' writing style and the rather complex storyline featuring Frieda Klein. She is a psychotherapist who, it appears, is always helping or harming the London police by becoming involved in their cases. And that is where my problem begins which I must clarify is not the fault of the author. As the days pass and the body count rises, Frieda finds herself caught in a fatal tug-of-war between two killers: one who won't let her go, and another who can't let her live. spoiler για την πλοκή και θα ήταν κρίμα. Overall, I thought this chapter in the series was a lot better than the last. Now if I could only find a copy of the sixth book somewhere, I’ll be set to go. Instead of going through the due process, Frieda goes AWOL, sliding just under the radar and one step ahead of the cops, while she investigates the murder. But, it soon becomes clear that Frieda could be a target, and must tread very carefully.

Frieda is approached by an old schoolmate asking for help with her teenage daughter who has stopped eating and has become withdrawn. I’m not here to be a comfort. (…) I’m going to tell you something. This won’t go away. This will never stop being a part of your life, a part of who you are. And that doesn’t have to be a bad thing.” DCI Karlsson does not take any concern seriously not until a link emerged of an unsolved abduction of a 5 year old little girl who went missing twenty years ago that is similar to Matthew’s case. When Karlsson was told by Frieda that Allan first dreamed of it before the child was reported missing, he began to make suspicions and looks at the case more seriously as he don’t want for the same thing would happened to him to the retired investigator of the little girl’s case. This prompts Frieda to return to her hometown in hopes of drawing out the rapist, but other complications arise when she visits her mother for the first time in a long while, and when Frieda makes some startling decisions regarding her personal life.

Frieda is the lead investigator in this story, and gets little help at all from her inspector friend. She is the one pounding the pavement, doing interviews, and trying to gather evidence, even DNA evidence, which was pretty far fetched. It's that quote by Maddie that irks me the most. And it says a lot about society that unfortunately a lot of people would agree with her. Women who aren't mothers, by choice or otherwise, are treated as a lower species, inhuman. And as a non-mother, I do take offence to that. It's possible to be a mother without being obnoxious and derogatory about it, but unfortunately Maddie... That she's a victim's mother is no excuse for her to lash out at innocent people like Frieda. Rich in intrigue, intensity and atmosphere, Friday on my Mind is classic Nicci French - a dark, gripping and sophisticated masterclass in psychological suspense in which nothing is quite what it seems . . .Brilliance: The Bridge’s Saga Norén, played by Sofia Helin, is among the new wave of genre-redefining female TV detectives. Photograph: ZDF/BBC I read this installment at warp speed, so I guess I was really into it this time around. The ending was truly chilling and literally sent a shiver down my spine. Long time readers of this series are going to be surprised at the direction of this outstanding seventh outing for Dr.Frieda Klein and her friends. Frieda's thinking keeps you gripped and adds twists that most people wouldn't imagine' 5***** READER REVIEW
